MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE At NAMM: Video Available

January 19, 2009

A short video clip of MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine signing autographs at the Dean Guitars booth at the 2009 winter NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, which was held January 15-18, 2009 in Anaheim, California, can be viewed below.

Commented Mustaine: "I wanted to thank all of the terrific fans that stood in line and were shuffled along so quickly. You see these signings can usually go only one of two ways: totally smooth, or completely F.U.B.A.R. (there was some classified sh*t leading up to the signing that shall remain that way that was FUBAR) but this weekend had a lot of things FUBAR!

"I absolutely hate when we do signings and it goes like this, because someone always gets misheard or misinterpreted, and the security that is always there around me is always so intense. Someone always gets hurt, or doesn't get what they need signed and I am also always sorry when that happens.

"I totally understand that.

"If I was the head of Dean Guitars, I wouldn't have cared who was standing there — I would have had even more security around Darrell's [late PANTERA guitarist 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott] guitars.

"So to the security detail that worked my signings at Dean, nice to have met ya and I think you did a great job of taking care of Darrell's guitars AND me.

"That would have been too easy to have just ended there, right? Well, even though there is always an asshole in every crowd, it wasn't until I was on the way to Marshall that I had to deal with my first heckler.

"He said something drunken and unintelligible, like, 'I will work for bass lessons,' or something, and then there was one of our own that we already had problems with once before surrounding my face and image and his camera, and when he asked me something I couldn't make out, the security asked him to move and he said something rude to the security directed at me, and there you have it. More fun and antics from NAMM."

On January 7, MEGADETH commenced the recording process for its twelfth studio album at the band's own Vic's Garage studio in San Marcos, California. The CD is once again being helmed by acclaimed British producer Andy "Undie" Sneap, who produced MEGADETH's last album, "United Abominations" (May 2007, Roadrunner Records).

Tentatively due later this year via Roadrunner Records, MEGADETH's forthcoming LP will be the group's first with guitarist Chris Broderick, who replaced Glen Drover at the end of 2007.
